Bloove.com - Manage your mobile phone via the web
April 22, 2008 – 11:02 am
If you’re not one of the fortunate few to have an iPhone, you can still have awesome sync capabilities. There’s lots of programs out there to sync your phone with your computer, but Bloove.com takes it to the next level. It will sync your Nokia or Sony Ericsson phone with your Bloove.com account which makes updating your address book a cinch. It uses a Wi-Fi connection (if your phone has that capability) or your phone’s existing data connection so there’s no need to sync things via BlueTooth or Infrared.
You can send SMS messages directly from your Bloove.com account and even make calls. Presently the service is free but limited in certain ways. One of the limitations is the number of items allowed in the archive.
What’s the concept?
Web-based mobile phone syncing.
Why should you care?
Because you’re annoyed with having to update your contacts on your phone or dealing with the nightmarish issues of syncing with your computer.
How do they make money?
Presently, they don’t. But they do mention that the current version is the “free” version, which implies that future versions will not be so free.
Will this company last 5 years?
Not unless they evolve their business model a bit. With phones getting smarter and more ubiquitous every day, it’s only a matter of time until the problems that Bloove solves aren’t problems any more.
