Twitter.com

Twitter.com is one of the trendiest “upandcomers” out there. Why? It introduces innovative person-to-person blogspace. Everyone has their own miniature little area. Twitter.com makes minimalism an elegant alternative to sites like Bebo, Mocospace, and Myspace. Instead of spending hours modifying, and customizing a profile, and writing journals, Twitter.com focuses instead on the basics. One simple question: “What are you doing?”
It doesn’t get more brief that that. Twitter is essential for people that don’t always have to time to update an entire profile like Myspace, or Bebo. With Twitter, you write a minimal amount of words about yourself, and then start telling people what you’re up to. TIME magazine has said “Twitter is on its way to becoming the next killer application.”
What’s the concept?
Minimal information, with the maximum affect.
Why should you care?
It’s the easiest program to use to stay connected with people, without all the fuss of other massive Internet communities and networking sites.
How do they make money?
There aren’t any ads visible on the pages of Twitter, so they probably make a little from donations, but generally the site seems not-for-profit.
Will this company last 5 years?
It’s kind of 50/50 at this point. Twitter was an instant trend, and the universal proverb is “easy come, easy go,” however, it’s achieved massive amounts of users. So it may or may not be just a flash in the pan fad for networking apps.
Suggestions for improvements?
It might be fun to add other questions to respond to, switching up all the different responses people give, just for an interesting new twist.
