ICONlook.com

ICONlook.com is like the Google of the web icon world. All you have to do is type a keyword or popular tag into the prompt, and click LOOK. Instantly, the searcher is provided with the search results; icons relating to the company or keyword entered. Or if they want to start a more random search, the searcher can scroll to the bottom and select “random icons.” This gives a list of hundreds of random icons, strewn out throughout the Internet.
Otherwise, you can click on the other links at the bottom. One is for link sharing, which redirects you over to Linknapper.com, which appears to be an affiliate site the deals mostly in link sharing for random up and coming websites. The other link at the bottom is for the tag cloud, which is a full page of tags and keywords for the searcher who’s a little stumped on what to search for. Click around on random tags to experiment a little.
What’s the concept?
A visual search engine specifically for web icons.
Why should you care?
Unless for some reason you’re in a business that makes web icons a necessity, then it’s probably not something you’d be interested in. That may end up being the site’s draw-back; a lack of relevant users.
How do they make money?
So far it looks like they’re relying on ad revenue.
Will this company last 5 years?
Possibly. After a little modification, and some re-vamping. The site might need to re-think its objective, and perhaps offer the searchers a little more. Is this type of search engine even necessary?
Suggestions for improvements?
Definitely a bit of re-thinking, and deeper consideration of the purpose here.
