PriceProtectr.Com - Get Your Money Back!
May 10, 2008 – 10:15 am
PriceProtectr.Com allows the average Internet shopper an easy, free way to get their money back on purchases made prior to a price drop. For example, you buy something on Amazon one day, and then a couple days later, the price drops. You’re probably going to be kicking yourself, if you notice it. But what if you don’t? How would you get that money back? You wouldn’t, without some sort of notification; that which the retailers wouldn’t send you. PriceProtectr. Com, one of many similar sites, makes the process easy, and hassle free. Many Internet and web stores have a price protected deadline, so that you can get that money back, as long as you let them know within a certain amount of days; whether it’s a month, or only a week.
The process is simple for the shopper; they provide the site with the URL of the product on whatever site they bought it from, and then give their email, so that they can be notified when and if the price drops. The site also promises not to sell your information, or send you any spam. While reviewing the site, I also had a look at all the retailers on their list. The only possible negative side is that it only works if you are buying something from the list of stores shown on the site. However, the list is massive, and shows a lot of the stores many people shop at all the time; even places like Wal-Mart and Lowe’s Hardware. Another bonus is that they also provide for people who just have their receipts from purchases made offline. It still counts; those shoppers still need only to find the URL of the product they purchased, and submit it to the site.
What’s the concept?
Protecting consumers from price drops, by notifying them of the change in price.
Why should you care?
How could you not? Everyone shops. There’s nothing to pay for here either, and no need to register anywhere.
How do they make money?
From affiliate links in e-mails that they send out upon price dropping notifications.
Will this company last 5 years?
Maybe; there are a lot of similar online services, but of the many, this one is very attractive, easy to use, and most importantly, free.
Suggestions for improvements?
Including international major retailers as well; although they add stores to their list constantly.
