ShamoonSURFsquared.com - Visually share your webpages in live sessions

June 24, 2008 – 11:27 pm

Tonight, I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Todd Kelly, the CEO of SURFsquared.com.  He told me about his company and I was simply amazed!  The concept is simple, but it’s amazing that anyone could have even come up with it.  Basically, as you’re on a website you can share what you see with a friend!  So if you’re shopping for shoes at an unfamiliar site, you can request that a friend surf with you and your friend can actually see what you’re doing on the site!  They handle privacy in a wonderful way by restricting what is shared only to a single browser window; that way, whatever other information you have on your computer is completely hidden from your friend.

This is also an amazing tool for businesses that want to help guide their customers to navigating their website.  I can definitely see this being the next LivePerson.com!

What’s the concept?

Browser screen sharing!

Why should you care?

Because you don’t want to surf the web alone.

How do they make money?

They generate revenue by driving traffic to a site through friends inviting friends.  It’s pretty brilliant actually!

Will this company last 5 years?

I spoke with Todd only briefly, but he drips with success.  They’ll definitely last 5 years.  They have a great concept and with Todd at the helm, things can’t go wrong.

Suggestions for improvements?

Incorporate VOIP technology or institute some sort of chatting mechanism.  Along with surfing, it’d be great to actually talk to my friend / customer.
